Heritage diesel locomotives 47712 Lady Diana Spencer and 47593 Galloway Princess hauling the "Staycation Express" charter special over Ribblehead viaduct, on the world famous Settle-Carlisle line in Yorkshire, England. The train is running daily during the summer season between Skipton and Appleby, with one of the heritage diesel locomotives at each end.
As the name "Staycation Express" suggests, the aim is to encourage people to vacation at home, and to help the leisure and tourism industries which have been badly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Originally from Manchester in England, but now live near the foot of the Pennines, regarded as one of the most scenic areas of outstanding natural beauty in Great Britain. It's a great place to live for a photographer, but as you can see from my galleries I like to venture further afield occasionally. I have been a photographer for over 30 years, and always remember the best piece of photographic advice I was given. Some years ago I worked with a very elderley and wise photographer and he said to me on one occasion "you are looking but not seeing".
