A night study of preserved steam locomotive 60009 Union Of South Africa simmering in the yard at Bury, at the East Lancashire Railway in Lancashire, England. Affectionately known as just "number 9" by the enthusiasts, and designed by Sir Nigel Gresley, she is a sister locomotive to world steam speed record holder "Mallard", which is on permanent static exhibition at York Railway Museum. The wording of the front of the locomotive indicates that she is A4 class, and her base in steam days was Haymarket in Edinburgh, code 64B. From there she would be used to haul the prestigious none stop expresses between London and Edinburgh.

Originally from Manchester in England, but now live near the foot of the Pennines, regarded as one of the most scenic areas of outstanding natural beauty in Great Britain.
