The 16th century Falkland Arms pub is in the pretty Oxfordshire village of Great Tew. The pub is named after Lucius Cary, the second Viscount Falkland, who inherited the Great Tew estate in 1625. He was killed in the English civil war battle of Newbury in 1643, aged 33.
Originally from Manchester in England, but now live near the foot of the Pennines, regarded as one of the most scenic areas of outstanding natural beauty in Great Britain. It's a great place to live for a photographer, but as you can see from my galleries I like to venture further afield occasionally. I have been a photographer for over 30 years, and always remember the best piece of photographic advice I was given. Some years ago I worked with a very elderley and wise photographer and he said to me on one occasion "you are looking but not seeing". Thank you Sandi. Inside is a huge fireplace with a great roaring log fire, and it is easy to imagine sharing the place with ghosts of the past, it is a very small but very historic place.
