A wintery snow scene at the hamlet of Cragg Vale in West Yorkshire, England. The lack of colour on the trees and the subdued winter light make this scene appear almost as a black and white photo, when it is in fact a colour photograph.
About David Birchall
Originally from Manchester in England, but now live near the foot of the Pennines, regarded as one of the most scenic areas of outstanding natural beauty in Great Britain. It's a great place to live for a photographer, but as you can see from my galleries I like to venture further afield occasionally. I have been a photographer for over 30 years, and always remember the best piece of photographic advice I was given. Some years ago I worked with a very elderley and wise photographer and he said to me on one occasion "you are looking but not seeing".
