In early evening sunlight preserved steam locomotive 46100 Royal Scot approaches Hellifield through stunning North Yorkshire scenery. In 1933 Royal Scot was sent to the Century Of Progress Exposition in Chicago, and toured Canada and USA, travelling over 11,000 miles and being viewed by an estimated three million people.
Since being restored to running condition Royal Scot has featured on mainline steam specials since 2016.
Originally from Manchester in England, but now live near the foot of the Pennines, regarded as one of the most scenic areas of outstanding natural beauty in Great Britain. It's a great place to live for a photographer, but as you can see from my galleries I like to venture further afield occasionally. I have been a photographer for over 30 years, and always remember the best piece of photographic advice I was given. Some years ago I worked with a very elderley and wise photographer and he said to me on one occasion "you are looking but not seeing".
