The White House pub sits on bleak windswept moorland on the Pennine Hills, straddling the border of Lancashire and Yorkshire in England.. A former coaching house, the pub dates back to 1671, and at 1,300 feet above sea level, it is open to the harshest of winter elements.
This area is very popular with walkers, and in cold weather the pub has a very welcoming blazing log fire, a good selection of ales, and delicious food.
Originally from Manchester in England, but now live near the foot of the Pennines, regarded as one of the most scenic areas of outstanding natural beauty in Great Britain. It's a great place to live for a photographer, but as you can see from my galleries I like to venture further afield occasionally. I have been a photographer for over 30 years, and always remember the best piece of photographic advice I was given. Some years ago I worked with a very elderley and wise photographer and he said to me on one occasion "you are looking but not seeing".
