Description
The Cat and Fiddle pub at Macclesfield is the 2nd highest in England, situated at 515 meteres (1689 feet) above sea level. The pub lends it name to the A537 road running between Cheshire and Staffordshire, notorious for dangerous driving conditions, especially in the winter, and generally regarded as one of the most hazardous roads in the U.K.
