Artist's Description

Preserved steam locomotive 34053 Sir Keith Park picks up speed after departing from Quorn and Woodhouse station on the Great Central Heritage railway in Leicestershire, England.
The locomotive belongs to the Bulleid "Battle Of Britain" class, which would regularly perform on the prestigious "Golden Arrow" service, and haul the heavy passenger expresses between London and the south of England. Members of the class carried names which all had connections to the Battle of Britain which took place during the Second World War.
34053 carries the name Sir Keith Park in tribute to air chief marshall Sir Keith Rodney Park GCB, KBE, MC and Bar, DFC, a New Zealand soldier and World War One flying ace, and Second World War Royal Air Force commander.
