Description
Preserved steam locomotive 35018 British India Line approaching Ribblehead on the famous Settle-Carlisle line in Yorkshire, England. 35018 was withdrawn from service in 1964, and was to spend 13 years rusting in a South Wales scrapyard before being bought for preservation in 1979. Restoration work began in 2012 and 35018 ran under her own steam again for the first time in 2017.
Designed by Oliver Bulleid, 35018 is one of thirty "Merchant Navy" class locomotives built between 1941-1949. The class members were all named after the shipping lines involved in the Battle of the Atlantic in the second world war, and latterly the shipping lines which hauled the prestigious boat trains in southern England to Southampton Docks.

Great image of this old beauty!

Thanks Andrew. She looked and sounded great storming over the Settle-Carlisle line.
