Description
This evocative picture of a Lancaster bomber was taken during a commemorative fly-past to honor the airmen killed during the famous "Dam Busters" raid during the 2nd world war. The picture was taken at the Derwent Reservoir and dam in Derbyshire, England, which is where the training took part for the actual raid and where the airmen practiced their low-flying technique, essential for the success of the operation. The site was chosen because of it's similarity to the German dams.
There is a plaque on the dam commemorating the heroics of 617 Squadron (many of whom were Canadian).

Hi Sandi, I'm well thanks, hope you are to. Thank you for your visit and kind words, I was pleased with this one. I waited 4 hours to see the Lancasters but it was well worth it, a brilliant tribute to what those brave airmen did years ago.
