Autumn is in the air as preserved steam locomotive Britannia class 70013 Oliver Cromwell approaches Rothley, on the Great Central Heritage railway in Leicestershire, England. 70013 became the last steam locomotive to have a routine heavy overhaul by British Railways, and was out-shopped in a special ceremony in February 1967 at Crewe locomotive works. 70013 then hauled the last mainline steam passenger train on 11th August 1968. The train was known as the "15 guinea special" because of the then perceived high price of tickets.
Originally from Manchester in England, but now live near the foot of the Pennines, regarded as one of the most scenic areas of outstanding natural beauty in Great Britain. It's a great place to live for a photographer, but as you can see from my galleries I like to venture further afield occasionally. I have been a photographer for over 30 years, and always remember the best piece of photographic advice I was given. Some years ago I worked with a very elderley and wise photographer and he said to me on one occasion "you are looking but not seeing".
